Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer

The Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer is responsible for monitoring, triaging, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues across a wide variety of customer environments. This role is part of a 24x7 operations team and serves as a critical first point of contact for system alerts and client-reported issues.

The NOC Engineer owns issues from initial detection through resolution, while also performing proactive and preventative maintenance to ensure system stability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Monitor multiple systems and platforms for alerts, warnings, and performance issues

  • Receive and respond to inbound client phone calls reporting technical problems

  • Review and manage service tickets created via email, web portal, and system integrations

  • Triage incoming tickets, assess impact and urgency, and assign appropriate priority levels

  • Escalate issues when required while maintaining ownership and clear communication

Troubleshooting & Resolution

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose network, server, and infrastructure-related issues

  • Perform root cause analysis and work incidents through to resolution

  • Document findings, actions taken, and resolutions clearly within the ticketing system

  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding status, progress, and resolution

Preventative Maintenance

  • Perform patch management on servers and related infrastructure

  • Apply firmware updates to network devices, including:

    • Switches

    • Firewalls

    • Wireless access points

  • Support proactive monitoring and maintenance activities to reduce future incidents

Operations & Handoff

  • Participate in a 24x7 operational environment with scheduled shifts

  • Conduct structured shift handovers at the beginning and end of each shift

  • Ensure continuity of service by clearly communicating open issues, risks, and priorities

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Information Technology

  • Hands-on experience with Juniper Networks (required)

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and technologies, including:

    • Infoblox

    • Apstra

    • Mist AI

    • LogicMonitor

    • ConnectWise PSA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure

  • Experience with VMware environments

  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls

  • Prior experience in a NOC or managed services environment
